Nicole is an owner and a founding partner of DBMA Family Law Group.  A Portland native, she attended Portland State University and obtained a philosophy degree from the University Honor’s College.  Nicole received her Juris Doctor Degree from Lewis & Clark Northwestern School of Law.  She clerked for Oregon Legal Services throughout law school and began her family law career as a legal aid attorney providing access to justice for survivors of domestic violence facing poverty. She transitioned to private practice and continued to provide legal services to families through Koch & Deering, Deering Law Office and as a shareholder with Schulte Anderson. Nicole has 25 years of experience resolving complex family law matters through mediation, litigation and collaborative divorce.  She is passionate about supporting clients through difficult family transitions and advocates by partnering with clients to understand their needs and goals. She obtains the information necessary to explore options and navigates the legal system to achieve the best available resolution. Nicole believes in the “least harm” approach to family disputes by putting the needs of children first. She considers the emotional and financial security of all parties in achieving sustainable resolutions.  Nicole gives back to her community by volunteering, mentoring, presenting and networking to improve access to the highest quality legal services for all members.  Nicole lives in Portland with her husband, two sons, and extended family, and has multigenerational roots in the city’s professional and labor industries.
